Buckingham Parish Church

Serving @ BPC

Journey

Helping on a team at BPC is one of the best ways to settle into the church family, make friends, have fun, and be a blessing. We'd love everyone to play a part in this adventure. There are so many ways to get involved whatever your age, stage or background. Get stuck into something for one term or season with as little or as much time commitment as you have.

If you would like to help in any capacity please click on this link to email your availability.  Please state who you are and we will contact you.

Our Volunteer Form is here.

We've put a few ideas of teams you might like to join below:

Alpha Team – The Alpha Course is one of the main ways people come to faith at BPC, so every term we gather as many people as we can to explore Christianity in this relevant and relaxed way. The team includes those who bring guests, set up, lead groups or are just great hosts.
For further details contact alpha@bpchurch.uk

Office Team – Our Office Manager is always looking for more skills and hands to work on various IT projects that will continuously grow our church in excellence and capability.

Welcome and Hospitality Team – One of our most important teams! For people who love connecting with new people, linking them up with others, playing a huge role in the environment everyone experiences at our events and making sure everyone has a nice hot cup of coffee and a cake.

Kids Team – We have a number of age-appropriate groups running every Sunday and at special events — from babies through to eleven year olds. Our kids leaders have an absolute blast as they invest in our children through all sorts of videos, games, music and stories, bringing Jesus to life in their lives.

Families Team – Reaching out into our community is at the heart of what this team does. We run The Ark Baby and Toddler Group, Lighthouse (after-school church), an annual Family Fun Day, engage with local schools through assemblies, a Light Party and Easter and Christmas events. We also play a big part in Buckingham Churches Holiday Club.

Sides Person – With current restrictions the Sidesperson role is to welcome the congregation as they arrive, ensure they understand and comply with our current Covid safety procedures, and then during communion usher the congregation forward. On occasions there may be items such as books, notices, service sheets, candles, palm crosses etc. to hand out.  It is a relatively easy role and a great way to get involved and get to know others in the congregation.

Chalice Assistant – Under normal circumstances the Chalice Assistant helps the clergy at communion by administering the wine. However at present the role is to prepare the individual cups prior to the service.

Server – The role of the server is to prepare the table for communion, assist during communion by ensuring sufficient bread and wine is available, then clear away afterwards. Under normal circumstances it includes leading the procession of the choir at the beginning and end of the service.

Prayer Team – For those who support and bless our community by praying for them and with them, mainly at Sunday services.  We want everybody at BPC to feel comfortable praying for one another whilst we offer further prayer ministry training to those particularly gifted in this way.

Production Team – As a team we train on a range of audio, lighting and visual technology, enhancing the worship and church experience, ensuring the smooth-running, accessibility and excellence of our Sunday services and other events.  We are currently in need of camera operators.  Full training is given.
Contact Mike or Ali on production@bpchurch.uk for more information.

Reading Team – This is a group of confident readers who are not phased by standing at the front of church and reading from the bible. Bible passages for each service are carefully selected by the clergy to complement the biblically-based teaching programme of sermons and talks. Members of a team are organised into a rota and read as often as they wish. Training and support are offered and the teams are organised by leaders for each rota.

Worship Team – A group of passionate musicians and singers who have been chosen to lead our Sunday worship and other events, preparing the way for people to encounter the presence of the living God.

Youth Team – Our youth are 11-18 years of age and meet during the 6pm service every week to hang out, experience faith in engaging ways and discover what it means to live out that faith in today’s world. This team run the sessions and arrange other special events throughout the year.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at BP Church for our Sunday Services starting at 9am, 11am or 6pm. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome lanyard.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits before the services begin. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

What about my kids?

Click here for our kids programme.

The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.

Getting Connected

Connect Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Connect Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.
